| FAQs – Wedding photography venues |
Q. |
Your photography studio is in Halesowen, how far do you work away from base? |
A. |
Mainly our target area for wedding photography is within the West Midlands A-Z Map but we will go further afield for a small extra mileage charge. We have for example been to some exotic Cotswolds location like The Bay Tree Hotel in Burford:
www.cotswold-inns-hotel.co.uk/property/the_bay_tree_hotel |
|
Some other “far flung posts” are www.rowtoncastle.com/, we have photographed weddings there several times during all seasons and produced excellent wedding story books [by graphi studio and Dunns Imaging], which we can show some very good picture examples of. |
|
Speaking of castles there is also www.tamworthcastle.co.uk/. Castles set by a river are settings for lovely pictures. |
Q. |
Ok, how about photographing weddings at venues closer to home? |
A. |
Closer to home is the Chateau Impney Hotel: www.chateauimpney.com in Droitwich, wonderful wedding pictures waiting to be taken in the gardens and inside the buildings. |
|
From Droitwich to Bromsgrove to see Grafton Manor Hotel: www.graftonmanorhotel.co.uk/. Again the gardens are a major attraction and the buildings add charm to a wedding setting and photographs. |
|
Another nice location is Stone Manor www.stonemanorhotel.co.uk/ even if the weather is not so good there are inglenook fireplaces and broad stairways. Outside are beautifully tended gardens. |
Q. |
How about sporting locations for wedding photography? |
A. |
In the centre of Birmingham we have photographed at Aston Villa Football Club www.avfc.co.uk. We are always well taken care of for good wedding photo opportunities here. |
|
If you are more of a cricket fan then we have also photographed weddings at Edgbaston Cricket ground www.venues.org.uk/venues/edgbaston_cricket_ground Cannon Hill Park is opposite. |
Q. |
How about historic locations around Birmingham for wedding photography? |
A. |
In Mosley there is Highbury House www.birmingham.gov.uk/highbury.It was built as a family home in 1878 by Birmingham’s famous parliamentarian, Rt Hon Joseph Chamberlain MP. Chamberlain often referred to it as his “Haven of Peace” and to this day it feels the same. |
|
In Warwickshire another site with history is Nailcote Hall www.nailcotehall.co.uk. We have beautiful examples of the gardens and of the wedding ceremonies taking place. |
Q. |
You have mentioned many civil locations for wedding ceremonies; do you still photograph at many churches? |
A. |
Yes, they are still popular with many couples for, I think the sense of occasion they can add. Churches like The Oratory: www.birmingham-oratory.org.uk/ or Cardinal Newman’s Oratory doesn’t look so great from the outside, but step through the door and you will be impressed. This venue has given us tremendous opportunities for stock photography. |
|
Another historic site for weddings is in St Nicolas Place, Kings Norton. Look at www.saintnicolasplace.co.uk/ and you will see St Nicholas church, a tudor merchants house and the old Grammer School. |
